Are you…?

  • Tired of trying therapist after therapist, only to not get the relief you’re looking for?

  • Able to tell your story without showing much emotion at all, even though it still upsets you?

  • Unable to put into words what you went through or how it affects you?

  • Worried that you might be broken?

  • Looking for proven relief for the effects of trauma or other stressful events?

Do you want…?

  • An effective, proven method to heal the effects of trauma and PTSD

  • A fresh approach to your healing that goes beyond just talking?

  • To feel whole again?

  • To be free from the past and hopeful about the future?

I would love to guide you through a transformative therapy experience — EMDR.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful form of therapy that helps you break free from the emotional and psychological effects of past traumas, negative experiences, and limiting beliefs.

You Wonder, “Will It Always Be This Way?”

Maybe this has been your experience:

  • You went through something that continues to bother you, even though you think you should be over it.

  • You feel fundamentally changed by what you experienced and you wonder if you’ll ever feel like yourself again.

  • You’ve tried talk therapy or self help, but you still feel the effects of what you went through.

  • What you went through happened so long ago or went on for so long that you can’t even imagine a life after healing.

  • You didn’t think you’d live as long as you have. Now that you’re here, you don’t know what to do with yourself and your life.

  • Sometimes you feel like you’re going crazy. Anxiety, depression, panic and unpredictable mood swings are too familiar.

If any of that resonates, then this might be true for you too: You need to find relief. You can’t keep facing the same problem over and over again. You can’t keep overreacting to things and hurting your relationships. You need things to change — actually change — this time.

Find authentic, profound healing through EMDR.

EMDR works because it targets the specific reasons why you feel stuck and out of balance.

EMDR transformed my work as a therapist and the lives of my clients.

I’ve guided clients through EMDR to treat a range of concerns and experiences, all leading to a deeper, faster healing than is often achieved through talk therapy alone. I’ve witnessed the rapid resolution of trauma symptoms and the movement towards feeling whole again

I have additional experience in Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR), which specifically addresses trauma that affects one's ability to feel secure in relationships

Whether the traumatic events happened in childhood or later, I’m able to lead my clients towards healing that goes far beyond relief.

Whole Healing

Here are some of the outcomes you can experience through EMDR Therapy.

Imagine it…

You feel in control of your emotions and reactions. Everyday stress is manageable and you remain grounded. You sleep through the night and wake up feeling refreshed. Panic attacks and overwhelming anxiety are a thing of the past. Your mood feels balanced and you’re able to predict how you’ll feel from day to day.

You start to feel hopeful for the future. Where you used to feel drained and overwhelmed, now you feel optimistic and content. You have abundant energy to put toward your life goals and you start to achieve them.

Your reactions feel reasonable and understandable. You trust yourself to navigate through life and all of its experiences. You have a better sense of what you need and you’re capable of getting it. Self care actually makes a difference, rather than being a drop in the bucket. You’re in touch with your hope, joy and desires.

You no longer lose yourself in relationships. You’re able to feel safe being close to another person. Your relationships are based on respect and care, creating soft and nurturing connections. You are in touch with your boundaries and confident to set them.

EMDR can open the doors to all those opportunities, and so many more.

How It Works

Here’s what you can expect from the process:

  • Step 1

    FREE CONSULTATION

This 20 minute phone call is an opportunity to explore if we will be a good fit to work together. During this call, I will answer any questions you have and we will briefly discuss your reasons for seeking therapy at this time. We’ll schedule your first session during this call.

  • Step 2

    FIRST SESSION

The first session is a unique part of the therapy process. There will be a mix of me asking questions and you sharing your experiences. My clients often share that they had an easier time opening up in the first session than they anticipated.

  • Step 3

    ONGOING THERAPY

The focus of each session will be based on your specific EMDR plan. Depending on what phase of EMDR you’re in, the focus will be on creating resources, processing target memories, or applying insights to future scenarios. Throughout our time together, I will check in to make sure that you feel therapy still benefits you and that we’re on the right track.

  • Step 4

    ONWARD

Eventually, our work together will near its end. My approach to ending therapy is intentional, flexible, and supportive. You don’t have to say goodbye too soon, nor do you have to stay longer than is right for you.

Many clients have questions about EMDR before getting started.

Here are some of the most common questions & concerns I hear from clients before we begin working together:

  • EMDR works by recalling a traumatic or negative experience while engaging your body’s natural healing capabilities through bilateral stimulation (BLS). BLS involves tapping, eye movements or sounds that activate one side of your body and then the other, back and forth.

This enables you to work through, or ‘process,’ the target experience without being overwhelmed by it. It allows your body to heal in the way it wasn’t able to at the time the event happened.

  • It’s very likely that EMDR will work for you. It’s been shown to be effective for a wide range of concerns.

That being said, we will need to discuss your unique situation before proceeding with EMDR. The decision to start EMDR takes into consideration health and safety concerns, therapeutic goals and timing. We will discuss all of this in your consultation and first session.

Above all, a willingness to engage in the process and working with a trained EMDR provider are two of the most important factors when considering whether EMDR will work for you.

  • EMDR is a safe, effective and well-studied treatment option.

That said, there is inherent discomfort in remembering and focusing on past traumatic experiences. That’s why the first step in EMDR is to create inner resources that you can rely on for coping.

While I am your guide for EMDR, you are always in control. Every decision is made together and we take every step at your pace, never rushing or going further than you’re ready for.

  • EMDR is supported by extensive evidence and research. The positive outcomes of EMDR have been found to be comparable to those of other well-established therapies, like cognitive-behavioral therapy.

The American Psychiatric Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the World Health Organization all recognize EMDR as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD. Research studies have shown that EMDR can help to reduce the symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other trauma-related symptoms.

As a member of the EMDR International Association, I am committed to furthering my knowledge and expertise through regular training and ongoing consultation with experts and educators in the field.

  • Most of my clients start to feel the benefits of EMDR within a few sessions. This is because the EMDR process always starts with building skills for dealing with unwanted symptoms.

Regarding completing EMDR therapy, it’s more variable. The number of sessions depends on factors like whether we’re working on one or multiple traumatic experiences, what’s going on in your life at the time we’re working together, and how your mind and body naturally process information and experiences.

Generally, you can expect 8-12 sessions for working through a single event, and more if we’re working through something more complex.
